Tamarind Cove Hotel at Paynes Bay, St. James on the west coast of Barbados is reopening on November 1, 2010 under the name Tamarind. The open air lobby of the hotel introduces guests to the soothing atmosphere they will find at this resort. The beach views available from most of the rooms will help guests relax as they leave their everyday lives behind.

Guests can enjoy fresh air while having breakfast or afternoon tea at the Sugar Cane Room. Food is available all day at Rilaks Deck. All day dining at the beachfront is available at 246 Bar & Restaurant. The bar is open from 11:00 a.m. until midnight. Room service is available.

Guests have their choice of water activities at the hotel. One of the three freshwater pools is in a courtyard. The two other freshwater pools have views of the sea. The new fitness center at the hotel is state-of-the-art. There are facilities nearby for golfing and fishing. Tennis is available for no charge at partner hotels on the west coast of the island and the hotel provides transportation to these hotels.

The hotel sits on the edge of the sea less than two miles from Holetown and 20 minutes away from Bridgetown. Both towns have historical sites, shops and restaurants. Guests can take a complimentary water taxi from the hotel to partner hotels on the west coast of the island. Daphnes restaurant is next to the resort. Restaurant patrons can relish Italian food and sip exclusive brands of rum while they enjoy the view of the sea.
