The Sandpiper
The Sandpiper, the sister hotel of the Coral Reef Club, is one of the most exclusive small hotels in the West Indies. It is situated on seven acres of gorgeous sandy beach and surrounded by lush landscaped gardens of tropical flora. Waterfalls, peaceful Koi ponds and hanging bougainvillea in rich colors help guests relax in this exquisite hotel. Honeymooners will love the Tree top Suites where the beautiful gardens provide ultimate privacy as they snuggle in feather beds covered in white Egyptian cotton linens or take a dip in their private plunge pool.
Wining & Dining
The restaurant at the Sandpiper is open on three sides which allow the atmosphere of the torch lit gardens to permeate the diners senses. Regarded as one of the best restaurants in Barbados, Executive Chef, Christophe Poupardin and his assistants offer an eclectic menu that emphasizes the freshest Caribbean ingredients. Dinner menus change five times each week; Wednesday nights the chef presents a West Indian/International buffet that includes dishes from roast beef to fresh seafood and Sunday nights they offer a barbeque dinner. Diners are entertained by live music nightly during season and three to four nights a week during the summer.
For lunch and cocktails at sundown, Harolds Beach Bar is the place to visit. Right on the beach, it is a bamboo fronted bar named for a special member of the staff. Cocktails at the hotel's poolside are available at the bar and lounge that is tastefully designed in blues and whites.
Rest & Relaxation
While the Sandpiper does not have a spa, its guest are welcomed to use the spa at their sister hotel, the Coral Reef Club and will provide a transport for the one minute trip. The Spa is housed in a beautiful building inspired by colonial architecture. Tropical vegetation and waterfalls are dispersed throughout the spa. Guests can enjoy one of four multipurpose treatment rooms, or couples can enjoy the Outdoor Pavillion.
The Spa is all encompassing with an exotic range of oils and other body treatments that use local fruits and plant life. The Spa therapists are highly skilled in performing facials, wraps, scrubs and massages.
Sports & Recreation
Guests of the Sandpiper will never be bored. The Tree Top Suites include their own plunge pools while the hotel's mosaic tiled pool surrounded by golden palms, offers free-forming swimming. The Sandpiper fronts the West Coast of Barbados on a section of sand that is shaded by palms and sea almonds. Sections of the frontage are covered with decking where guests can lounge if they dont want to be in the sand. The water is generally calm and is another good area for swimming.
Watersports lovers will enjoy the variety that is offered by the Sandpiper. Guests can snorkel, windsurf, water-ski, kayak and go small boat sailing with the compliments of the hotel. There is no need to worry about equipment as the watersports shop will lend guests snorkeling equipment. For an extra charge the more adventurous can arrange scuba diving or deep sea fishing through the Coral Reef Club.
For those who are not as fond of water, the Sandpiper offers two tennis courts with free clinics run by the resident tennis pro offered each afternoon. There's no need for concern if the day passed without a stop on the courts; they can be lit at night.
